Appeal a parking fine
Received a parking ticket which you believe has been incorrectly issued? You can submit an explanation for your circumstances to the Timaru District Council's Parking Unit, where it will be considered and will advise you of the outcome.
If you wish to apply for a waiver of your infringement, please ensure your situation meets the following criteria before completing the explanation form:
For a Warrant of Fitness or Expired Registration Renewal:
Your Warrant of Fitness or Expired Registration must not be out of date by more than 28 days at the time of infringement.
You must not have been infringed for the same offence previously.
You must produce evidence of any claims made that are deemed to be exceptional circumstances along with this application.
You must have renewed your warrant and/ or registration before applying for a waiver.
You must ensure that your application is made within 28 days of the issue of the infringement notice (or within 14 days if your request relates to a discounted infringement fee).
If attending a medical appointment, you will need to provide evidence with your written submission.
If the vehicle has been sold, you must produce details of the new owner, date of sale. (This applies to trailers and caravans also).
For Mobility card holders and over 80’s:
- Where you have parked in a mobility park you must submit a copy of your mobility card as evidence together with your submission.
- No concession will be granted on free time limited parking in Timaru for over 80’s permit holders.
If you were not the driver at the time, please complete the statutory declaration form below
You will need to produce evidence of compliance if a warrant of fitness (WoF) or licence label offence is involved.
