A regulatory role of the Timaru District Council’s Environmental Health Department is to protect the health of residents in the district. According to the appropriate legislation, we register and inspect businesses such as:
- Hairdressers
- Beauty therapists, tattooists and skin piercers
- Camping grounds
- Funeral directors
- Offensive trades
If you are a new business needing to register or have taken ownership of an existing business, please complete the Health Licence Application form (found in the 'Related Information' section) and submit to the council with the applicable fee payment. An Environmental Health Officer will then contact you to arrange a pre-opening inspection if applicable.
See below for further information or contact the council and ask for an Environmental Health Officer – 03 687 7200.
