Timaru District Council rates and Environment Cantebury rates will now be invoiced together. In the past homeowners will have received four Timaru District Council and two ECan rates invoices and now just four rates invoices in total will be issued for the year.
By combining the rates into one account, it means that the amount ratepayers pay for each instalment will be slightly more than in previous years but the total for the year will be similar to the previous year. To make the payment process as smooth as possible, homeowners can make payments in many ways and at various times. Payment options include direct debit, creditcards online, in person, posting payment to Council or internet banking.
The first account for the current year will be posted this month.
ECan ratepayers in the Waimate District will also receive four invoices for ECan rates per year instead of the two invoices received in the past. Payment of these invoices continues to be made at the Timaru District Council who collect ECan rates on behalf of Environment Canterbury.
