A Council committee has had a look at what is involved in developing a Local Easter Sunday Shop Trading Policy to govern the choice around whether or not shops can trade on Easter Sunday.
The ability to introduce a local policy was introduced in legislation towards the end of 2016 by an amendment to the Shop Trading Hours Act 1990.
It was decided by Council to consult with the Community later this year with a view to developing a policy for Easter 2018.
As a consequence the Timaru District is still subject to the old rules for this year, so what you did last year applies again this year. If you have any questions please feel free to give us a call to discuss.
