Career

  • Cabinet making and wood carving apprenticeship
  • Own business doing private and public commissions of furniture and wood carving
  • Moved to Geraldine in 1978 where he continued to handcraft furniture and paint
  • 1986 opened his own gallery and began painting fulltime
  • 1992 undertook a study and painting expedition to Europe and the UK
  • 1996 – 1996 built his own home on the Downs, Geraldine
  • Concentrated on portraiture
  • Returned to Europe and the UK for further painting and study in 2001
  • Held solo exhibitions at a number of galleries throughout New Zealand since 1985
  • Exhibited in selected group exhibitions throughout New Zealand since 1990
  • Published ‘Passing People’ a book of 100 portraits
  • Featured in a number of other publications, including ‘A Painted Country’ by Denis Robinson, and ‘NZ’s Favourite Artists’ by Denis Robinson
