The Council has partnerships with a number of organisations. These provide services on Council's behalf or assist in providing services through funding arrangements.
Some of these organisations are Council Controlled Organisations (CCOs). A CCO is any organisation in which the Council owns or controls at least 50 percent of the voting rights or has the right to appoint at least 50 percent of the directors or trustees. CCOs can bring expertise that the Council may not be able to easily access otherwise and can also attract funding from sources other than ratepayers.

Sport Canterbury South Canterbury
Sport Canterbury South Canterbury is part of the Regional Sports Trust, Sport Canterbury. They are contracted by Council to provide a range of resources, programmes and events to people throughout South Canterbury. Te Ana Maori Rock Art Centre
Te Ana Maori Rock Art Centre is located in central Timaru. It provides a unique rock art experience including the most significant collection of ancient Maori rock art in New Zealand. Te Ana Maori Rock Art Centre provides the Visitor Information Centre for Timaru.
