Work to ensure safer crossings at Grantlea Downs School

05 Apr 2024

#INFRASTRUCTURE MATTERS

Work to improve the safety of the crossing for kids attending Grantlea Downs School will start on Monday.
Work will begin on Monday April 8 to construct a raised safety platform at the existing pedestrian crossing on Grants Road outside of Grantlea Downs Primary School, we will also be taking this opportunity to install a roundabout at the Bouverie Street and Grants Road intersection.
Both of these projects will improve the facility for children crossing Grants Road by slowing the speed of motorists. We have received special funding to prioritise this project.
Work will commence on April 8 2024 and is expected to be completed by April 29 2024. We have scheduled the majority of the work this work around the school holidays to minimise disruption to students, parents and residents.
Grants Road and access to Bouverie Street from Grants Road will be closed to the public. Access will be maintained for residents and emergency services.
Detours will be in place on SH1 (showgrounds) and Old North Road.
Detour signs, speed restrictions, cones and/or traffic controllers will be in place to help guide and control road users while work is underway. These measures help protect the safety of both contractors and road users – please respect them.
