Timaru District Council is refreshing the district’s Active Transport Strategy which will set out how Council aims to improve active transport infrastructure (footpaths, cycleways, shared paths and rural trails) over the next 10 to 15 years to increase the number of people using active transport.

In September 2023 we asked people what they thought about walking, cycling and other forms of active transport in the district. We also asked what barriers were stopping people from using active transport, as well as any ideas on what improvements could be made to the transport network that might encourage people to use active transport.

We have taken this feedback and drafted an active transport ‘network’ (routes) for the district. Now we want the community to provide feedback on this.

In line with keeping the district active it was decided people who partake in the survey could be into win some amazing prizes,  Active Transport Project Manager Shelley Wilson said.
