High Street Stormwater Main Renewal Project

03 Oct 2023

#INFRASTRUCTURE MATTERS

We are soon to be commencing Stormwater project work at an intersection near the Timaru Hospital.

On the corner of Queen Street and High Street we are re-routing an existing stormwater main (shown in green); that is running beneath 52 High Street property and failing. To resolve this issue, the new stormwater drain (shown in red) will be realigned with the road for easier access in the future.

This property on the corner of Queen Street and High Street is owned by the Timaru District Council and the sections are leased out. The tenants are made aware of the process but due to the location of the hospital near this site, we have identified you as a key stakeholder.

The work is expected to be completed in three stages, as follows:

Stage One: From October 2 to October 30, 2023– This will consist of a road closure on the eastern end of Queen Street from the High Street intersection. Residents access will be maintained.

Stage Two: From October 30 to November 20, 2023 – This will consist of a full closure to the intersection of High Street and Queen Street. Detours will be in place.

Stage Three: From October 20 to December 20, 2023 – There will be a full closure of a small section of High Street, north of the Queen Street intersection (refer diagram below).

We have already informed the emergency services in Timaru about our works, relevant detours.

On-street parking on Queen and High Street may be limited at times so our contractors can work safely.

There will be some signage installed close to the hospital. We will keep clear of the hospital entrances to maintain access to the ambulance bay.
