#INFRASTRUCTURE MATTERS

Haere Mai - Welcome!
------------------------------------------------------------

We are pleased to introduce the first Corridor Management update. As a Council we want to ensure we are supporting, encouraging and educating our contractors to the highest standard. This regular email will keep you updated on current roading practices and legislated requirements, and celebrate some wins along the way. We look forward to helping you keep yourselves and your teams safe on our network.

This month we outline a few important key dates, as well as some new requirements and guidelines that are coming into effect.

Any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact the Corridor Management Team at roads@timdc.govt.nz

Updated Fees and Charges

------------------------------------------------------------

Updated fees and charges for the 23-24 financial year will apply as of 1 July.

These charges are set at a level that reflects the cost of delivering the service, so it's not funded by general ratepayers.

For more information about the new charges visit: https://www.timaru.govt.nz/council/publications/fees-and-charges/land-transport

TMP - Planning Ahead
------------------------------------------------------------

If you are working near a footpath (even for small jobs such as unloading of goods) you will need to have Traffic Management provisions in place to control pedestrian access.

As a PBCU you are responsible to set up, manage, and have the right controls in place otherwise under the Health and Safety at Work Act you could be held liable if someone gets hurt.

* PLAN and PREPARE for unexpected risks. Critical thinking is key before you start.
*  If using a Generic TMP, please ensure you have done a site-specific assessment before the work starts. Check and note down unforeseen risks that are in the surrounding area.
* Don’t forget your onsite records.

Corridor Access Requests (CARs)
------------------------------------------------------------

From 1 May to 7 June the Corridor Management Team have approved 167 CARs around our district.

There are currently 1146 CARs sitting with a ‘work in progress status. If you have finished your work, please remember to sign it off in Submittica and attach the required paperwork for quality assurance. Please note: your warranty period doesn’t begin until completion sign off is complete.

Contractor of the month

From next month the Land Transport team will highlighting a contractor of the month who has shown best practice in:

* Completed Records including: works completion, cleg results, before and after photos, full site induction to Council staff.
* A tidy and safe work site with completed records on site.

The contractor of the month will be announced in the next issue and receive an onsite morning tea!

We look forward to visiting you on site.
