#INFRASTRUCTURE MATTERS
A massive thank you to all who participated in our consultation for the Timaru District Council Active Transport Strategy.
The survey outlined proposed new paths and upgrades to existing paths to shape up the Timaru District Active Transport Network, participants were then put in the draw to win multiple prizes, with the top prize being an e-bike, the survey gained around 200 submissions.
We would like to thank Darren and Linda from DC Cycles for organizing these amazing prizes and taking the time to size everything up for our winners!
"Reading the submissions has shown that the Timaru District is on the same page, communities are highlighting areas for improvement unanimously and providing good quality feedback," Active Transport Project Manager Shelley Wilson said.
"It was so exciting seeing all the winners getting their bikes and helmets fitted for them, one of the gift voucher winners was excited to put their voucher towards a new bike after theirs was recently stolen."
The winners mentioned how excited they are to use the new and improved network as it unfolds.
Our lucky winners in the over 16 category were:
Tim Sweeney
Nick Webb
Lisa Doudle
And 16 and under category:
George Stevenson
Reuben Cunningham
Gareth Kearins
What happens now with the proposed plans? We will collate the answers and the feedback and it will be used to help form our network plan for our active transport strategy, we plan on executing these paths over the next 10 year plan in order of priority. This strategy will be presented to the elected members sometime in the new year.
If you have additional feedback on how we can make the network accessible, these suggestions are welcome even though the consultations process is finished, these can be sent to activetransport@timdc.govt.nz
