As the summer sun shines brightly over the Timaru District, it's time to gear up for the Sunsational Challenge 2025! This annual event offers a fantastic array of free activities for families to enjoy.

The Sunsational Challenge is designed to encourage everyone under the age of 18, along with their guardians, to explore the beautiful Timaru District. With a mix of indoor and outdoor activities, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you're a local or a visitor, the challenge is a perfect way to discover new places and create lasting memories.

Pick up your challenge cards from various locations, including Temuka Library, Timaru Library, Geraldine Library, South Canterbury Museum, and Aigantighe Art Gallery. Each activity completed earns a stamp.

Once participants have collected the required number of stamps they can present their card at the appropriate venue to earn rewards and go in the draw for prizes:

  • 3 stamps earns a free badge
  • 6 stamps earns a free swim
  • 9 stamps earns an entry in the prize draw

The Sunsational Challenge features a variety of activities that cater to different interests. From exploring museums and art galleries to participating in outdoor adventures, there's no shortage of fun things to do. After completing three activities, participants can earn a free badge, which can be collected from South Canterbury Museum, Timaru District Libraries, and Aigantighe Art Gallery.
