Planning & Resource Management Responsibilities

Council’s Planning and Resource Management responsibilities primarily relate to the administration of the Timaru District Plan including the –

• preparation, amendment and monitoring of the District Plan,
• processing of Resource Consent Applications, Notice of Requirements, Outline Plans, Existing Use Right Certificates, Certificates of Compliance,
• monitoring of Resource Consent Applications,
• enforcement of the District Plan and Resource Management Act 1991.

The Planning Unit is also involved in the –

• allocation and maintenance of the rural and urban numbering,
• the processing of Land Information Memorandums, Project Information Memorandums and Service Applications.
